On a New York City night in 2022, Libby and Chris's paths crossed in the most unexpected way— thanks to Hinge and many thanks to Libby's friend Bevin Walsh. At 30 and single in New York City, Libby was at a New York Athletic Club event, hoping to meet someone special. However, her NYAC sponsor Bevin Walsh had a different idea for their night, spending their time setting Libby up with Hinge dates instead of mingling with the single men at the event.

Enter Chris, 35 and actively swiping. He was immediately drawn to Libby's profile, even despite the bizarre pickup line that was sent to him: “What do you get when Queen bees toot? A noble gas!” Chris wasn't aware that Bevin Walsh had sent this message, not Libby, but luckily he still put his best foot forward answering the cheesy pickup line.. it was ultimately their shared love for Duke that set the stage for a Friday night first date, reminiscing about Shooters (their favorite Duke bar!) at a cute wine bar in the West Village. 

From wine nights and comedy clubs to dartboards, beer pong, and dancing, their early dates overflowed with fun and laughter. It quickly became clear that their shared sense of adventure, active lifestyles, and family-first values formed the foundation for something truly special. Chris knew almost instantly that Libby was the one; her radiant smile and bright energy lit up his life, and he often referred to her as his sunshine. A pivotal moment occurred just a month and a half into their relationship when Chris joined the Jandl family in Tulum for Libby’s brother’s wedding. Family approval meant the world to Libby and deepened her feelings for Chris. However, it was during a memorable Sunday walk in New York—caught in a torrential downpour with no rain jackets and no one else in sight—that Libby fell in love, witnessing how Chris transformed the unexpected rain into a joyful experience.   

With Chris’s kind soul and Libby’s daring spirit, they’ve created a beautiful partnership rooted in unconditional love and a shared zest for life. Together, they’ve explored Switzerland, Austria, Tulum, Big Sky, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, Waterloo, Niagara Falls, Nantucket, Miami, Beaver Creek and Santa Monica—each trip adding to their collection of unforgettable memories. Travel has become a cornerstone of their relationship, leading to Chris's incredible proposal, which included a heartfelt celebration with Libby’s family before a breathtaking trip to Hawaii.

While they love exploring the world, Libby and Chris are thrilled to welcome everyone to Libby's hometown to celebrate their big day! Community and family mean everything to them, and they can't wait to be surrounded by the amazing Kansas City community that shaped Libby, alongside their Duke friends and NYC family. They look forward to sharing this special day with all their favorite people next May!
